The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the trade association for the world s airlines, representing some 265 airlines or 84% of total air traffic. We support many areas of aviation activity and help formulate industry policy on critical aviation issues. IATA s mission is to represent, lead, and serve the airline industry. Responsibilities
As the main interface between members, aviation stakeholders and IATA, the area manager owns the entirety of relationships in the Gulf region.
Account Management
* Build and maintain pro-active, professional top management level relationships with (a) member airlines, with (b) other industry stakeholders, including airports, ANSP authorities, suppliers and service providers, AOCs and BARs and non-member airlines in both the passenger value chain and the cargo supply chain and with (c) legislators and government officials, at both the policy and working levels in all relevant parts of the host and relevant government within the cluster (e.g. Transport, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Environment and Trade ministries);
* Monitor and report about members/ stakeholders and on aeropolitical, economic and commercial developments in the region, taking or recommending actions which are consistent with IATA s policies and objectives
* Develop and drive commercial and business opportunities at the cluster level in order to achieve the regional commercial targets;
* Prepare annual account plans outlining needs and map value-add solutions with the help of Business Development Team
* Promote IATA s policies, positions, objectives, activities, services and products amongst airlines, governments, regional organizations, regulatory authorities and other industry stakeholders;
* Ensure responsiveness to any account issue, including cases of accidents or financial risks
* Maintain good media relationships and develop, in close cooperation with the Regional Vice President as well as IATA s Corporate Communications department, a coherent IATA communications strategy at the national level in support of IATA s objectives, programs and policy positions;
Delivery Oversight:
* Oversee the implementation of projects and programs (e.g. NDC, One Order, NewGen, IOSA, ISAGO, Value of Aviation, Environment, Fast Travel, e-AWB, etc.), receive reports as to the progress of delivery against the account plans
* Support the organization of IATA s events in the respective cluster and represent IATA at industry events, in coordination with the Regional Vice President;
* Based on customer feedback, provide active assessment to the Regional Vice President about the delivery of projects.
Financial and Distribution Services
* In collaboration with the cluster/regional Subject Matter Experts for Financial and Distribution Services and the Global Delivery Center build and maintain strong customer stakeholder management with airlines, travel agents and forwarders regarding IATA s financial and distribution services;
* Manage local IATA Settlement Systems (ISS) governance groups (LCAG-P, LCAG-C, APJC, ALWG, FAG, ICAP, etc.) in collaboration with the cluster Subject Matter Expert for Financial and Distribution Services to adopt effective risk management rules for members funds: forecast ISS market trends and risks, respond quickly and effectively to any market issues which may put members funds at risk
Office and People Management:
* Ensure corporate fiscal, legal and regulatory compliance in the cluster and perform representative duties based on the Power of Attorney received from the Corporate Secretary;
* Actively support the talent development of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
* Foster a culture of inclusion, integrity, team spirit, strategic thinking, partnering, innovative pioneering and acting with a human touch
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Political Science, Law or any other relevant discipline;
* Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in a similar role with at least 5 years of experience in a management role;
* Experience in the aviation industry;
* Track record of success in leadership positions at a regional level;
* Proficiency in MS Office and CRMs (e.g. Salesforce);
* Fluency in English (CEFR: C1)
Preferred Qualifications
* Advanced degree is an asset e.g. MBA
* Previous Experience in managing, leading or overseeing projects is an asset
* Experience in government affairs would be an advantage.
* Prior experience in sales and marketing would be an asset
* Proficiency in regional languages (CEFR B1)
